Recent examples of our work
- We reviewed the process for producing a glycol based monomer that was the main raw material for Lycra. The manufacturing facility had storage for several hundred thousand pounds of off grade material that required reworking by blending with first grade product. The plant had requested funding for additional storage capacity to store the ever growing quantities of off grade material. A review of the plant operating procedures, revealed that the single line plant was required to produce several different product variations on a single line. By analyzing the grade change methodology using Op/Ex tools it was determined that by changing the methodology, production of off grade material could be reduced dramatically. This eliminated the need for additional storage saving several hundred thousand dollars of new investment. In addition, product quality improved dramatically since the need to blend back large quantities of off grade was reduced.
- We assisted one of our clients that had issues with their asset management process by developing best practice procedures and processes to improve the performance of assets and address the associated risks throughout their lifecycle. We also helped then in transforming operations processes to help reduce waste and increase efficiency across the organization using Lean / Six Sigma principles and methodologies to identify ongoing and continuous business improvements.
